Volleyball Edged at Elms

CHICOPPEE, Mass. – Despite 18 kills and 18 digs from junior Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.), the University of Saint Joseph volleyball dropped a 3-2 non-conference match to Elms College Tuesday at Elms' Picknelly Arena.

Most sets hinged on one or two points and 215 total points were played to settle the match. After Elms took a 1-set lead with a 25-23 win, USJ took the next two sets, 26-24 and 25-22. Elms came back to win the final two sets, 25-17 and 15-13.

Elms improved to 2-10 overall; USJ is 2-7.

Perez had an excellent hitting night, putting away her 18 kills against only seven errors on 49 swings. Emily Vigue (Lebanon, Conn.) had five kills, 15 digs and served three aces for the Blue Jays. Megan Williams (Lakeville, Conn.) had 29 assists and 13 digs and Elizabeth Tuazon (Mystic, Conn.) contributed 11 digs.

USJ hosts Daniel Webster, Thur. Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
