WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – University of Saint Joseph junior Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) had match-highs of 12 kills and 16 digs to lead the volleyball team  to a three-set win over Daniel Webster Thursday in a non-conference game.

Amanda Dondero (Mastic, N.Y.) and Cassandra Grimaldi (Manchester, Conn.) each had six kills apiece for USJ. Megan Williams (Lakeville, Conn.) had 26 assists and 13 digs and Elizabeth Tuazon (Mystic, Conn.) had 12 digs for the Blue Jays.

USJ had 38 kills on the night, holding Daniel Webster to 15, largely as a result of outdigging the Eagles, 58-36.

Daniel Webster had its best chance to win a set in the opener, building late leads of 22-18 and 23-22, but three kills on the final eight points by Perez and a couple late DWC errors allowed USJ to prevail. Dondero put away a kill to wrap up game two and Rebecca DiPinto (Burlington, Conn.) had a kill from the middle for the Blue Jays on match point.

USJ hosts Pine Manor at Pratt Institute, Sat. Sept. 21 beginning at 10 a.m. Daniel Webster is off until Tue. Sept. 24 when it plays at St. Joseph's of Maine at 7 p.m.
