Volleyball Wins No. 9

PAXTON, Mass. – University of Saint Joseph junior Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) had 17 kills to lead the Blue Jays to a three-set volleyball win over Anna Maria Thursday in a GNAC match.

USJ improved to 9-15 overall and 3-5 in the GNAC. Anna Maria is 9-13 overall and 1-6 in the conference. The Blue Jays ninth win allowed them to surpass last year's season total of eight victories. Scores by set were 25-22, 25-22, 25-19.

Perez had 17 kills against only six hitting errors on 33 total swings. Rebecca DiPinto (Burlington, Conn.) had seven kills and just one error on 14 swings for USJ. The Blue Jays hit well as a team with 38 kills and 18 errors.

Amanda Dondero (Mastic, N.Y.) served four aces to go along with four kills while Elizabeth Tuazon (Mystic, Conn.) also had four aces to go with a match-high 13 digs. Megan Williams (Lakeville, Conn.) had 29 assists for USJ.

Saint Joseph plays at Emmanuel, Sat. October 26 in a GNAC tri-match that also includes Rivier, beginning at 2 p.m.
